A retail logistics centre of around 47,000 sqm, built at Ștefăneștii de Jos for Mega Image — one of the largest supermarket chains in Romania, part of the Delhaize group. Here PPAE was not the designer of the building, but the client’s technical consultant: the independent eye that made sure, throughout the investment, that what was built matched the design and the client’s requirements.

PPAE’s role

Mega Image entrusted PPAE with checking technical compliance for the entire duration of the works (around 17 months): the match between the technical design and the client’s requirements on the one hand, and the execution details, materials and equipment proposed by the contractor on the other — across all disciplines: architecture, structure, building services, roads and platforms. The checks went all the way to the as-built documentation, so that the client received a building compliant with what was ordered.

Result

For Mega Image, the assurance of an independent technical control on a key facility in its logistics network — a warehouse meant to support expansion in Bucharest and the south. For PPAE, a mandate of trust in a consultant role, complementing its design work — as was also the case at The Bridge office buildings.
