Residential center for adults with neuropsychiatric conditions, developed for the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection, Sector 6. With a built area of approximately 1,575 sqm on a G+1F regime and a capacity of 50 places in 17 rooms, the building brings together the residential spaces with the medical and psychological offices, the recovery rooms, the occupational-therapy workshops and the annexes required by an institution operating permanently.

Challenges

The typology is that of a residential center with requirements standardized by Order 559/2008 — a minimum of 6 sqm/patient, a toilet shared between at most two rooms, separation by level for patients with mobility problems, securing the windows and the electrical installations, an isolation room for contagious cases. The project met these requirements on a generous plot (an achieved building footprint of only 16.9%), which allowed extensive outdoor arrangements — alleys, green spaces, terraces, a relaxation gazebo — relevant for an institution where the beneficiaries spend all their time on site.

Result

For DGASPC Sector 6, a residential center completed in 2012 and operational, integrated into the sector's network of social services for adults with special needs. For PPAE, a project from the series of public buildings with a social function developed for local authorities in Bucharest.
