A car-body storage hall and a general assembly dock for the Ford plant at Craiova — extension projects carried out inside an operational car factory, to the manufacturer's standards. With a total area of approximately 12,800 sqm, the complex was developed under a Design & Build contract, with Quantum Construct as general contractor.

Challenges

The two interventions were carried out on an active industrial platform, attached to production halls in operation (the Stamping Hall and the Assembly Hall). The solutions had to comply with Ford's specifications — the standards of a global car manufacturer, which sets strict conditions for detail, materiality and execution. Coordination under a Design & Build contract required a close link with the general contractor from the design phase, so that the architectural solutions remained feasible to build and within budget.

Solutions

• Car-body storage hall (10,600 sqm) — attached to the Stamping Hall, with an enclosed dock sized for the simultaneous unloading of two trucks and two direct accesses to the existing hall, for continuity of the supply flow to the stamping line.
• General assembly dock (2,200 sqm) — initially an open canopy, later enclosed through a brief change to protect the stored materials. Attached to the Assembly Hall, with direct access for transferring components to the assembly line.

Result

For Ford Romania, two extensions that directly serve the plant's production flow. For PPAE, a collaboration with an international car manufacturer, under a Design & Build contract, executed to the standards of an OEM platform.
